The word ‘courage’ comes from the French ‘coeur’, meaning ‘heart’. The original definition of the word was ‘to speak one’s mind by telling all one’s heart’ and therefore courage really means being prepared to tell your story of who you really are with your whole heart. To really be seen, to show up, to be prepared to take a chance, to be unashamedly YOU.
Dr Brene Brown says this about courage:
It starts every day by putting [my] feet on the floor and saying, “Today I will choose courage over comfort. I can’t make any promises for tomorrow, but today I will choose to be brave.”
